Wyndham is using a mix of nostalgia and loyalty perks to brighten holiday travel for its members this year. The company has launched a seasonal Wyndham Rewards holiday status upgrade, fronted by actress Beverly DAngelo, known for her role as Ellen Griswold in National Lampoons Christmas Vacation.
Through 31 December, members can visit the programme site to request a complimentary one level status boost. The upgrade unlocks additional benefits tied to higher tiers, such as early check in, late checkout, preferred rooms and the potential for suite upgrades, depending on level and availability. The offer is valid through the end of the year, giving travellers a chance to visit family or plan getaways with more comfort.
Diamond members, who already occupy the top tier, can register instead for five times the points on all qualified stays completed by 31 December. Wyndham notes that details, including terms and conditions, are available on its website.
In a campaign statement, DAngelo plays on the familiar chaos of holiday gatherings, from crowded homes to guests sleeping on couches. She positions Wyndham Rewards as the simple way to stay close to family without being too close, promising a real bed, extra perks and a little breathing room.

Wyndham Rewards operates with four membership levels Blue, Gold, Platinum and Diamond. Blue is unlocked on enrolment and offers benefits such as 1000 points with every qualified stay, free Wi Fi and rollover nights.
Gold members, who qualify after five nights, receive all Blue benefits plus a preferred room, late checkout and access to a dedicated member services line, along with 10 percent more points per stay. Platinum members, unlocking after 15 nights, gain all Gold benefits plus early check in and car rental upgrades with partner brands in the United States and Canada, and earn 15 percent more points.
Diamond members, who qualify after 40 nights, receive suite upgrades and a welcome amenity at check in where available, and earn 20 percent more points with each stay.
Mike Shiwdwin, group vice president loyalty and guest engagement at Wyndham Hotels and Resorts, notes that holiday travel often involves crowded airports, packed cars and large family gatherings. The upgrade is framed as a way to make that experience more manageable, whether the stay is a single night at a budget friendly property or a longer break at a premium hotel.
The complimentary upgrade is available globally to all Blue, Gold and Platinum members. New members can enrol for free, then claim their one level bump, which takes effect immediately. Once claimed, Blue moves to Gold, Gold to Platinum and Platinum to Diamond, with the exception of certain partner status matches. Members using the complimentary upgrade are not eligible for the five times points promotion.
