Telangana is about to change the game literally. On August 2, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy will unveil the state’s bold and transformative Sports Policy 2025 at the inaugural Telangana Sports Conclave in Hyderabad. This policy is being described as the most ambitious initiative in India’s sports landscape, with a clear mission to position Telangana as a powerhouse of athletic talent and a serious contender on the Olympic stage.

Backed by the Sports Authority of Telangana and launched in the presence of key dignitaries including Hon’ble Minister for Sports Sri Vakiti Srihari and Chairman Sri Shivasena Reddy, the new policy lays down a comprehensive roadmap to elevate every aspect of the sporting ecosystem in the state.

The Sports Policy 2025 goes far beyond elite events. It is rooted in grassroots expansion, built around athlete welfare, and designed to ensure inclusivity across every level. With a focus on both infrastructure and opportunity, Telangana is aiming to turn local passion into international podium finishes. From rural villages to urban stadiums, the state plans to bridge the gap with world-class facilities, structured training programs, and long-term institutional support.

One of the standout announcements includes the establishment of a state sports university in Hyderabad. This institution will serve as a nerve center for elite athlete development, sports science, research, and education. It will also cater specifically to para-sports and offer specialized pathways for female athletes and rural talent, ensuring equal access to professional sports careers across the board.

In a first for any Indian state, the policy rollout will also include a series of strategic MoUs with major corporate players, international bodies like FIFA, and top-tier athletes. These partnerships are expected to bring in not just investment but also mentorship and expertise, accelerating Telangana’s goal of becoming a global name in sports excellence.

Speaking ahead of the launch, Minister Vakiti Srihari emphasized the vision behind this massive push. He described the policy as a declaration that every child in Telangana regardless of background should be able to dream of sporting greatness. He reiterated the state’s commitment to supporting para-athletes, empowering women in sports, and rewarding true excellence with meaningful incentives.

Beyond medals, the policy aims to instill pride, health, and unity among citizens. Telangana’s message is clear: sport is not just a pursuit of victory, but a catalyst for social change, identity, and aspiration.

As India continues to rise in the global sports arena, Telangana’s Sports Policy 2025 sets a new benchmark for how vision, infrastructure, and inclusivity can come together to shape the champions of tomorrow.
